My student teaching experience taught me a lot about interacting with parents.  My first interaction was sending a letter home to them, introducing myself as their child's student teacher.

After that, I learned very quickly how to collaborate with them at least on a weekly basis.  I would sent newsletters home weekly to let them know what was going on in the classroom.  Sometimes, for a certain few, progress reports were also sent home.  Usually during the week I would have the chance to chat with lunchroom moms from the children in my class.

In addition to all of this, I had the opportunity to participate in parent/teacher conferences on March 16 and 17.  I also participated in 3 IEP meetings for special education where parents, specialists, educators, and administrators all collaborated on individual students successes.
