Standard 9
Utilizes school/district/community resources.

One of my most memorable experiences was the two "Distance Learning," technology video conferences I was able to participate in with my class.  How it worked was my 3rd grade class would gather in the media center and be set up on a camera.  At least four other schools would be participating in the conference at the same time, so each school could see each other.  The two conferences I participated in were:

1.  Bats- my class was wrapping up a unit on bats when I came into the classroom. Toward the end, my cooperating teacher and I helped them prepare questions they would like to ask the real-life bat expert they would be interviewing through the video conference. This was very educational because not only did the students get to talk to a bat expert, however, they were also learning from the other questions being asked my other schools.

2.  In February, my class read the book, When Donkey's Fly, by Ginger Hodge, which was a book encouraging the youth that they could be whatever they wanted to be.  My class did correlating activities around the book.  When it came to the distance learning, they prepared questions to ask Ginger Hodge, and participated in a live conference where she answered their questions.

Earth Day, April 22

On April 23rd, my class also took a field trip to the movie theatre to see the new Disney movie, Earth.  This was implemented to celebrate Earth Day and wrap up our celebration on it.
